Dysport Long-Lasting and Fast-Acting Dynamic Wrinkle Treatment

Dysport is designed to smooth the lines and wrinkles that develop due to repetitive facial movements. It works by temporarily preventing the muscle contractions that cause your lines, so you still look like you—simply younger and more relaxed.

  • Smooth fine lines and wrinkles
  • Dramatically improve Glabellar lines (the 11 lines between your brows)
  • Prevent new wrinkles from forming

Your Dysport Experience

We administer Dysport in the comfort of our Palo Alto office. Before we place the injections, we will use a numbing cream to ensure that the experience is virtually painless. Then, we’ll place several injections between and above the eyebrows to relax the underlying muscles in a nuanced way that preserves your natural facial movement. The entire visit takes just 10 to 20 minutes, and you can return to your day immediately.

Results can appear in just 24 hours, with most patients seeing their softened appearance in three days. Dysport is very long-lasting and can smooth away dynamic wrinkles for up to five months.

Dysport vs. BOTOX Which One is Right for You?

Dysport and BOTOX are both made from botulinum toxin type A, which means they work the same way: by blocking muscle contractions, they maintain a soft and relaxed expression. Dysport is formulated as abobotulinumtoxinA, while BOTOX is onabotulinumtoxinA.

However, Dysport results appear in as little as 1-2 days, while it can take 2-3 days for BOTOX injections to reveal their full effect. Dysport also diffuses more readily than BOTOX, so it’s often used to treat larger areas, while we reserve BOTOX for occasions when we need more precision. Both deliver a smooth and nuanced transformation and can help you look and feel like yourself again.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Dysport?

Dysport is ideal for patients looking to soften dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet while maintaining natural facial movement. It is a great option for those seeking a non-surgical, subtle approach to facial rejuvenation or preventative treatment.

Candidates should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations. During your consultation, we will assess your facial anatomy and goals to determine if Dysport is right for you.

What are the most common Dysport side effects?

The most common side effects are mild nose and throat irritation, headache, and injection site pain.

Do I need to prepare for Dysport injections?

The only recommendation we make is to avoid alcohol for 48 hours prior to treatment, as it can increase your risk of bruising. Also, please disclose the use of any medications or supplements that may be associated with an increased risk of bruising, such as aspirin and blood thinners.

Can I use Dysport preventatively?

Absolutely. Many of our younger Palo Alto patients use Dysport before deep dynamic wrinkles have set in to prevent them from forming.

How is Dysport different from BOTOX?

Dysport and BOTOX are both neuromodulators made from botulinum toxin type A—Dysport is abobotulinumtoxinA, while BOTOX is onabotulinumtoxinA—and work by relaxing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. Dysport tends to spread slightly more, which can make it a good option for treating larger areas like the forehead, while BOTOX may be preferred for more precise, targeted correction. The best choice depends on your anatomy and goals.

How many units of Dysport will I need?

The number of units varies based on the treatment area, muscle strength, and your desired result. Some patients require only a small amount for subtle softening, while others may need more to achieve optimal smoothing. Your treatment will be customized during your consultation.

When will I see results after Dysport?

Many patients begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours, with full results typically visible within a few days. Dysport is known for its fast onset compared to other neuromodulators.

How long does Dysport last?

Dysport results typically last about three to five months. Longevity can vary depending on your metabolism, muscle activity, and how consistently you maintain your treatments.

Will my face look frozen or unnatural?

When performed with proper technique and dosing, Dysport should soften lines while preserving your natural facial movement. The goal is to look refreshed, not overdone. Treatments are carefully customized to maintain expression and balance.

Is there any downtime after Dysport injections?

There is little to no downtime. Most patients return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. Mild redness or swelling at the injection sites may occur but typically resolves quickly.
