Your Experience with Radiofrequency Microneedling

We will perform your radiofrequency microneedling treatments in Palo Alto in the comfort of our office. To begin, we’ll clean your face and apply a numbing cream to keep you comfortable.

During your treatment, the microneedling device will create microscopic wounds in the skin to trigger the healing process, which produces fresh collagen and elastin. Then the device will deliver radiofrequency heat through those wounds to enhance the treatment’s rejuvenating and anti-aging effects.

In general, this is a very comfortable process. After your appointment, you will likely experience mild redness for a few days. Depending on your comfort level, you can return to work and your regular routine the next day. Most of our patients need three initial sessions, followed by one yearly touch-up visit to maintain their results.

Radiofrequency Microneedling vs. Laser Skin Resurfacing Which Treatment is Right for You?

RF microneedling and laser treatments are both skin rejuvenation procedures that work by triggering your body’s natural healing response and increasing production of skin cells, elastin, and collagen. However, they accomplish these outcomes in distinct ways.

Laser treatments heat the outer layer of your skin and reach deep below the surface to target aging tissues. Because they penetrate so deeply, lasers can treat wrinkles, fine lines, scars and more. There is a longer recovery period, but the results are also more dramatic and enduring. Conversely, RF microneedling keeps the surface layer of your skin intact. It tends to be tolerated well by most patients and there is not a lengthy recovery period. However, the results tend to be more subtle.
