BBL: Broadband Light Therapy

Broadband Light (BBL) uses high-intensity light therapy to stimulate your body’s collagen production. During treatment, we will deliver heat at targeted depths to treat specific skin concerns. Your skin will absorb the light energy, stimulating collagen production and clearing away darker skin cells.

With BroadBand Light Therapy in Palo Alto at Mehta Plastic Surgery, we can improve the appearance of:

  • Rosacea, acne, and small facial veins
  • Sun damage, fine lines, and wrinkles
  • Freckles, age spots, brown spots, and broken capillaries
  • Skin tone and texture irregularities

Your BBL Treatment Experience

Your BBL treatments will take place in the comfort of our Palo Alto office. Each appointment takes just 30 minutes, depending on the size of your treatment area. In general, you’ll need at least three treatments, each spaced four weeks apart, to see optimal results. After the first treatment course, we recommend maintenance visits at every change of season to maintain your clear, bright, and vibrant complexion.

IPL: Intense Pulsed Light Therapy

IPL uses light waves to reduce redness, dark spots, pigmentation issues, and more. It’s considered one of the original photo facial treatments and has been safely used for many years.

At Mehta Plastic Surgery, we use IPL therapy in Palo Alto to improve the appearance of:

  • Wrinkles
  • Age spots and freckles
  • Veins, rosacea, and broken blood vessels
  • Freckles and birthmarks
  • Sun damage

Your IPL Treatment Experience

We will administer your IPL treatments in our Palo Alto office. To begin, we’ll clean the treatment area and apply a cool gel to keep you comfortable. Then we will apply targeted pulses of light onto your skin. These pulses may sting, but they shouldn’t be painful. The average IPL appointment takes about 30 minutes to complete. For ideal results, you will likely need three to six treatments spaced one month apart.

Photo Facial vs. Laser Treatments Which Approach is Right for You?

Photo facials and laser treatments are all designed to revitalize your skin, but they do so in distinct ways. What’s more, each approach is best for different concerns.

If you want to improve the appearance of your skin and achieve a refreshed appearance, we may recommend BBL or IPL. However, if you want to address deeper skin issues, treatment with a laser may be necessary.
