Rhinoplasty Expertise You Can Trust

If you need to augment your nasal structure—either due to genetics or to revise a prior nose job—you want to ensure that you’re in the most capable hands. You need a surgeon who not only understands the art and science behind facial aesthetics and beauty but also knows you and your unique desires.

During every rhinoplasty he performs, Dr. Mehta adopts a highly nuanced approach, taking care to preserve the pillars of your unique identity while also creating balance and harmony. This is what allows him to create the beautifully natural results that our San Francisco patients are drawn to.

When is Augmentation Rhinoplasty Necessary?

Dr. Mehta will use augmentation techniques when he needs to:

  • Add volume. If your desired results require additional volume or height, he’ll use augmentation techniques to build the nose you want.
  • Strengthen the nasal structure. Dr. Mehta often adds cartilage if he needs to strengthen weak or damaged areas, for example, if you have a deviated septum or a previous surgeon removed too much cartilage during a prior surgery.

Your Augmentation Rhinoplasty Surgery

Dr. Mehta will perform your augmentation rhinoplasty under general anesthesia, with the assistance of leading, board-certified anesthesiologists from Medical Anesthesia Consultants (MAC), whom he has worked closely with for many years.

Our San Francisco augmentation rhinoplasty patients have a strong preference for natural results. In fact, that’s one of the main reasons they come to Dr. Mehta for their care. To ensure a natural outcome, he uses cartilage from your body to augment the area. He’ll harvest it from your ear or rib or from inside your nose if you’re also having septoplasty performed. In most cases, Dr. Mehta uses an open surgical approach when augmenting the nasal bridge. He’ll build up the area using diced cartilage glued together, which ensures smooth and precise contouring. This approach also allows him to finetune the graft as needed, delivering seamless integration and ensuring that the graft is not visible beneath the overlying skin.

FAQ

How long should I wait before revising my nose job?

How long should I wait before revising my nose job?

If you require augmentation rhinoplasty as part of a revision, Dr. Mehta recommends waiting one full year after your first surgery. It can take that long for your full results to appear due to residual swelling.
