Your Rhinoplasty Consultation Meeting with Dr. Mehta

When you decide to learn more about nose surgery with Dr. Mehta, your first step will be to schedule a private consultation. During this meeting, he will ask what you want to accomplish with this surgery—including your desired aesthetics, current insecurities, and expectations for the procedure. This conversation is the most critical component of the entire rhinoplasty process because it provides Dr. Mehta with the knowledge necessary to deliver the results you want.

After this initial conversation, Dr. Mehta will thoroughly examine your nose, carefully palpating the area to assess the underlying nasal bones and cartilage and evaluate skin thickness. He will use a nasal speculum to evaluate the interior of your nose and determine the degree of deviation and status of your cartilage.

Visualizing Your Results

Dr. Mehta believes in empowering patients through education. After the initial conversation, we’ll photograph your nose from several angles and display these images on a computer screen. We can then digitally adjust the nasal structure so you can see how your nose will respond to surgery. This is also a very important process because it’s a time for you to communicate your aesthetic desires to Dr. Mehta. He’ll want to understand how you feel about what you’re seeing on the screen, what you like and don’t like, and what adjustments feel most like you.

Tailoring Your Surgical Plan

The final portion of your rhinoplasty consultation at our Palo Alto office involves developing a customized surgical plan that encompasses everything you and Dr. Mehta discussed. We want you to walk away from this conversation feeling confident about the process ahead, and with a detailed understanding of what to expect before, during, and after nose surgery.

Your Rhinoplasty Surgery

On the day of your nose surgery in Palo Alto, our team will welcome you to the surgical center and review your procedure details. Before anesthesia, you’ll meet with Dr. Mehta once more to discuss any last-minute questions or concerns you may have.

Dr. Mehta works with leading, board-certified anesthesiologists from Medical Anesthesia Consultants (MAC). Once the anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Mehta will reshape and refine your nasal structure with the utmost precision.

He predominantly uses the open approach but is also extensively experienced in the closed approach. He is an expert at septal perforation repair and uses the latest technological advances to perform the procedure.

Dr. Mehta is talented at both primary and revision rhinoplasty procedures. He’s known for tailoring his adjustments to meet his patients’ nuanced desires—ensuring subtle, natural changes that create a beautiful nose.

Functional Nose Surgery

Functional nose surgery is rhinoplasty that requires internal changes to improve your breathing. Internal changes may include septoplasty to straighten a deviated septum, stenosis repair to widen the internal and external nasal valves, and submucous resection to reduce the inferior turbinates.

If you need both cosmetic and functional nose surgery, Dr. Mehta can perform them simultaneously. Often, insurance coverage can offset a significant portion of the procedure costs if you have trouble breathing, a deviated septum, septal perforation, or a prior broken nose.
