What is the consultation process?
Your private consultation will take place in the comfort of our Palo Alto or San Francisco office. During this time, you’ll meet Dr. Mehta, and he’ll get to know you, your goals, and your aesthetic concerns. You’ll walk away from this meeting with a plan, images of your expected results, and an understanding of the next steps.
What is the recovery time for rhinoplasty?
Your recovery timeline will depend on how extensive your procedure was. In general, the initial recovery lasts four to six weeks. Due to residual swelling, it can take a full year for your results to be considered final.
What are the anesthesia options?
Most rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery procedures are done under general anesthesia, although twilight sedation may be suitable in some cases. Dr. Mehta works with leading, board-certified anesthesiologists from Medical Anesthesia Consultants (MAC) to select the right option for each patient.
What is the difference between primary, revision, and augmentation rhinoplasty?
Primary rhinoplasty is nose surgery done for the first time, while revision rhinoplasty is a subsequent procedure. Augmentation rhinoplasty can be done during primary or revision surgery and involves adding tissue to the nose, rather than removing cartilage, tissue, and bone.
Does Dr. Mehta accept insurance?
Yes, Dr. Mehta accepts most insurance plans. Depending on your coverage, your insurance may cover a portion of nose surgery if it is medically necessary. During your initial consultation at our Palo Alto or San Francisco office, our staff will review your coverage and help you determine if the procedure is covered by your plan.
